Strategos II£6The 2015 reprint of Strategos II, Phil Sabin's third-generation rules for refighting ancient battles. Building on the ideas of Phalanx and Legion before it, Strategos II further refines Professor Phil Sabin's vision of how to simulate ancient warfare using easy-to-grasp mechanisms. Includes 36 historical scenarios. |
Computer based version of Strategos II - note this is a game, not a digital version of the Strategos II rules. Programmed by Richard Jeffrey-Cook.
The Saxon Shore is Burning£15A popular game of the Society of Ancients, the artwork has been entirely redone in full colour and the size of the mapboard and counters doubled in size in this new deluxe edition.
Here is an extract from the rulebook: This is a two-player simulation of the Barbarian Conspiracy of 367 A.D. Against Roman Britain. In that year the Scotti of Ireland, Atacotti of Western Scotland, Picti of Eastern Scotland and the Saxoni of Upper Germany/Lower Denmark joined forces to take advantage of the withdrawal of the province's three legions to the continent in one of the interminable Imperial Succession disputes. Britain was rish and prosperous but under-defended, so the Barbarians were able to loot and pillage up and down the country, running riot and killing the Count of the Saxon Shore. The Romans were eventually able to restore order and by 369 A.D. the province was secure again, though permanently weakened. The game consists of a map, tables, 400 counters (some spares and extras are also included) and these rules. You will also need a six-sided die.

Family Memberships are memberships which provide all the benefits of membership except for a Slingshot subscription (e.g. a membership number, vendor discounts, forums access). They are available to individuals living at the same address as a full (Slingshot subscribing) Society member. They were previously made available on a chargeable basis. They are now free. To ask for a family membership, please submit your request via the contact form, setting the Topic to "Family Memberships" if it is not already that.
Your membership subscription includes the Slingshot postage price, worldwide (yes, the price is the same for everyone). Other items from the store are charged for postage at cost, which is calculated during your checkout process.
